A Fracking Pipeline in Manhattan?!

Safety concerns are predictably grave.

This Fall, the Spectra Pipeline is slated to enter New York City under the Hudson River Park in Manhattan, carying fracked gas into New York homes and businesses.  Concerns about the safety of the pipeline in the West Village, Manhattan are predictably grave. Spectra Energy's dismal safety record includes tens of million dollars in fines for safety violations like spills, leaks, and explosions. In places where drilling has happened, some home owners have been able to set their fawcets on power. A similar pipelin caused an explosion in California. Will the same happen in Manhattan?

Also concerning is the introduction of radon into NYC homes and businesses. An odorless, radioactive gas emitted during the process, radon is the number one cause of lung cancer in non-smokers.
